Heartfelt Inspiration and a Whole Bunch of Fun at the Angels of Hope Luncheon

On Friday, December 1, Child Advocates gathered at the Royal Sonesta Houston Galleria to host their 25th annual Angels of Hope Luncheon and Fashion Presentation. Over 500 guests came together for a dreamy fashion show and shopping exhibition to raise funds and awareness for Houston's abused and neglected children.

This year's luncheon, led by chairs Aileen McCormick and Michele Holbrooke, featured a Neiman Marcus fashion show with ready-to-wear holiday attire. The show dazzled guests with sparkles, sequins and beautiful pops of color. For the first time in the history of the event, eleven local boutiques set up shop in the foyer for guests to browse and get a head start on their holiday shopping, with everything from chocolate to handbags to custom hats and everything in between. These pop-up shops generously contributed 20% of their sales to Child Advocates. A few lucky guests took home raffle prizes, including a $2,500 Neiman Marcus shopping spree, a $1,000 gift card to the Houstonian's Trellis Spa and an all-inclusive night out in Houston.

Child Advocates honored Joy Posoli for her longtime dedication and involvement in the organization, which has made a remarkable difference. Emcee Greg Bailey, with KRTK-ABC, led the way through the event and helped introduce the honoree and the guest speaker, advocate Alicia Lee. Lee spoke about her first-hand experience as an advocate and, in detail, about one case. When she first met the little boy, he was in a lower body cast because he was likely run over by a rolling car. Today, he and his younger sibling have found a new loving home in Austin. They are experiencing the joys of their milestones and accomplishments just like any other child their age – something that may not have been possible without an advocate giving a voice to the children's best interests.

The Angels of Hope Luncheon has become quintessential in promoting community awareness of the organization's efforts and a festive way to ring in the holiday season. With the support of the community, Child Advocates continues their mission of helping abused and neglected children in Harris County through the recruiting and training of advocates.

Overall, the 2023 Angels of Hope Luncheon and Fashion Presentation raised over $380,000, with raffle ticket sales raising more than $50,000. Child Advocates anticipates even more successful luncheons in the future with the help of the community and longtime supporters.
