Volunteer Training Coordinator
Work Experience / Qualifications:
- 2-3 years’ experience in providing direct supervision of a training program and/ or volunteer management
- Proven experience in organizing, establishing and managing multiple projects with deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of diverse volunteers
- Measurable experience in developing target lists, cold calling and initiating contacts and speaking to groups of potential volunteers
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Training, Non-Profit Management, Marketing or related field

- Strong organizational and customer service/people engagement skills
- Ability to design, develop, implement and evaluate training plans
- Ability to generate and analyze statistical data and plan/modify initiatives based on findings
- Strong written and oral communication skills for interface with volunteers, staff and vendors
- Creative thinker with innovative training, recruitment and retention ideas and ability to follow through to implementation
- Ability to initiate and manage large projects and see them through to completion
- Ability to work efficiently, handle multiple tasks and meet defined deadlines
- Ability to work in a goal-oriented environment as a team player
Essential Job Functions:
- Manage of all functions of Volunteer Training including but not limited to, Advocacy University training:
- Responsible for the planning and execution of Advocacy University, including but not limited to:
- Scheduling responsibilities which include: facilities, scheduling and communication of training dates, handling staff assignments for all training presentations, oversight of volunteer interview scheduling
- Design, develop and organize training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials
- Facilitate training sessions and provide exemplary customer service to attendees (volunteers) throughout the training process, ensuring initial positive impressions are established
- Manage communications with attendees before, during and after training, initiating and fostering engagement towards volunteer retention
- Set up and break down of sites and materials
- Train and support staff presenters for Advocacy University ensuring all are provided with adequate preparation and support towards presentation effectiveness
- Gather data to evaluation and analyze training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve upon existing programs, including online training options to augment live training opportunities.
- Oversee and support with coordination of volunteer continuing education efforts including oversight of grad school committee which includes:
- Scheduling and monitoring of grad school committee meetings
- Identifying guest speakers
- Facilities coordination of guest speakers
- Materials preparation
- Assess volunteer training make-up session needs and recommend and communicate course of action
- Assure the maintenance of the volunteer active and inactive filing system for all training data and volunteer participation records
- Develop and manage the annual training budget
- Be a positive and proactive participant in other team and organizational projects as needed
