Kym Cabaniss: July Volunteer of the Month

 Kym Cabaniss VOM

Kym Cabaniss has been a court appointed advocate and deeply dedicated Child Advocates volunteer since 2017. She hit the ground running from the very start, taking on cases and furthering her involvement with the organization. Now, she is the guardian ad litem for seven children, currently working on three cases simultaneously. In addition to her casework, Kym volunteers her time and effort for many Child Advocates events including Pull for Kids Classic, Grad Schools and Childspree. She has shown a deep commitment to Child Advocates as an organization, and has shown an even deeper commitment to the children she serves, always going above and beyond to ensure their best interests are met.

Kym has traveled many long hours, enduring early mornings and late nights, to make sure the kids on her cases have a familiar face present with any new placement change. “The children adore and love her very much, and they know that Kym has always been their rock at every new placement they have had to endure,” said Kym’s advocacy coordinator, Marshia.

Kym’s outstanding dedication and care as well as her service to Child Advocates as a whole, make her a more than deserving recipient of our July “Volunteer of the Month” award!

Congratulations, Kym, and thank you for all you do to make a difference in the lives of Houston’s abused and neglected children.
