Since 2013, Florence Langford has been speaking up for Houston's abused children. She has stood alongside ten children through five cases over the last seven years, and her commitment to our mission is steadfast. In addition to her casework, Florence serves on the Child Advocates Board of Directors, the Program Committee and is a Lifetime Member of the Friends of Child Advocates.
On her most recent case, Florence advocated for a child for more than five years and became extremely familiar with his family history. When criminal charges became part of his story, Florence went above and beyond to research programs and resources to help him. Every step of the way, Florence stood by his side. She ensured that all of his needs were met, even amidst serious challenges.
Florence's advocacy coordinator, Inger Smith had wonderful things to say about Florence's work on her case. "For every brick wall we came up against, she refused to give up on finding a placement for the child. Besides her timeliness and ability to relate to parents, her best asset is that she is always present. Without a doubt, the child could depend on Florence being there for him," Inger said.
Because of her dedication, we are thrilled to announce Florence as our May Volunteer of the Month! Our staff gathered to celebrate her on a Zoom call last week. Congratulations, Florence, and thank you for helping so many of Houston's littlest victims!
