For the second year in a row, local band Backspace selected Child Advocates as the charity of choice for their annual benefit concert. This year, the group of business professionals by day, and musicians by night chose to take us back to our favorite moments in cinema by featuring iconic songs from popular movies.
We heard everything from a Disney medly to an 8-mile tribute and everything else in between. Supporters and friends also came in full costume to make the evening more fun, dressed as Sandy and Danny from "Grease" and one of the Rockford Peaches from "A League of Their Own".
Sponsors for the event gave everyone glow sticks at the door and White Oak Music Hall was the perfect venue for the evening, in their newly renovated facility.
All in all, Backspace was able to raise more than $30,000 for Child Advocates through this one-night-only show, and we couldn't be more grateful! It's because of support like this from people in our community that we are able to give a voice to Houston's abused and neglected children. Thank you Backspace!
