Re: Eddy De Los Santos - Board of Directors Chair
Release date: January 24, 2017
Location: Houston, Texas
Child Advocates is pleased to announce that, Eddy De Los Santos has begun a two-year term as Chairman of the Board of Directors effective January 2017. Eddy has been a member of the Board of Directors for nine years, and replaces our 2015-2016 board chair, Brad Robbins.
Eddy is a graduate of Texas A&M University and South Texas College of Law and is a shareholder for Baker Donelson.
Throughout his time at Baker Donelson, Eddy has received numerous awards from their Houston office including the Public Service Award in 2013 and 2015, Pro Bono Attorney of the Year for 2014 and in 2016 he was awarded the Lewis Donelson Public Service Award for the entire firm.
In 2013, the Houston Business Journal designated him as one of their 40 Under 40, honoring business people who contribute to their companies, industries and community in an impressive way. Eddy has been named a Houston Top Lawyer in Civil Litigation by H Texas Magazine for the last five years, as well as the recipient of the Bank of America Local Hero Award in 2009.
Child Advocates has been fortunate to have Eddy join us as a court appointed advocate volunteer in 2001. During his time as an advocate, he served 21 children on six cases. Eddy has also served as our legal counsel for many years, working to protect our volunteers and the work they do for Houston's abused children.
In the most recent edition of Advocate News, Child Advocates CEO Sonya Galvan had this to say about our new board chair, “Eddy is an all-star player. He was a volunteer first and then he stepped into a board position. He’s been our legal counsel, he’s served on the development and the nominating committees…You can put him into any position. He’s so familiar with our challenges and he understands what we’re trying to accomplish. He’s all around just a genuinely good person, and he’s willing to fight for things he believes are right.”
