We are grateful to everyone who joined us for our 29th Pull for Kids Classic and are overwhelmed by your support. Since its inception, our large, action-packed, event has raised enough funds for Child Advocates to serve over 6,500 children. This year, you helped us raise over $340,000 to break the cycle of child abuse in Harris County. We couldn’t be more grateful.
Each year, the Pull for Kids combines a sporting clays tournament and a casual, fun party with an incredible silent and live auction. While this year’s events looked a bit unusual, we made lemonade out of lemons with our virtual evening party and postponed in-person clay shoot.
Our Mardi-gras themed virtual evening party featured a wonderful story about the work of advocate Jana Dundas with siblings Arayia and Aiden. Because of Jana’s dedication in her advocacy, Arayia and Aiden now live together in a safe and happy home. The evening continued with an incredible live and silent auction, a whiskey and wine pull and a chance for participants to sponsor a child. Many supporters gathered in safe, small groups in their homes to host a watch party and commemorate the evening together.
Just a few short weeks later, we hosted our clay shoot tournament at American
Shooting centers. The morning was full of fun and a chance to raise even more money for Child Advocates. Dozens of teams came out for a break in the rain and competed in the first place prize. All in all, this year’s multi-faceted Pull for Kids Classic was a wonderful success.
We want to extend a big thank you to Terri and Terrence Gee for allowing us to honor them this year. They both have given so much to the children we serve. We also want to thank Gina and Mike Van Hoozer for taking on role of event chairs. Your dedication and leadership helped make this year's Pull for Kids Classic outstanding. Special thanks to committee chairs Jeff Birmingham, Vilma Chapa, Dwayne Hyzak, Lana McCarley, Keith Neal, Kristi Neal and Rebeca Sanchez for making the event come together. We are so grateful to you all!
