What is your role with the Friends? I volunteering with the children (I love the Cameron Childspree) and help to promote awareness of the organization via my business. Additionally, I assist with fundraising for the group through the Pull for Kids, Angels of Hope Luncheon and other various fundraising campaigns.

What's life like outside of Child Advocates? I've been happily married to my best friend (Don Blome) for 25 years. Wow, "silver" ... that is “mature” people. Additionally we are the proud parents of three children (22, 19 and 16). Our oldest two children have already begun to take an active role in philanthropy work. Our daughter is actually volunteering at Child Advocates as one of her causes as well  I am also in the exciting stages of taking my wholesale gift business to the next level of producing, and distributing the inspirational gifts and home décor to a larger global market. If this joint venture takes off, it will ensure additional funds to Child Advocates. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Tell us something unique about yourself that others may not know: Personally being affected by abuse as a child, while living at home, I gained strength from God to stand up to my father. I have gone on in life to not only realize good things can come from bad situations but no one should ever be under another persons’ control.  This is why my business was created, as a creative outlet for me to sort things out.  I have been blessed to share my story with others and hope to place the story in print so that perhaps it can help even a larger audience, along with my gift line of products.

How I became involved with Child Advocates: I knew I wanted to give back to children who are experiencing dangerous and sad situations and I would love for them to realize that it is not their fault and they too can flourish in life.

The highlight of my experience as member of the Friends: Just seeing how aware our community (and beyond) is to the terrible act of child abuse.  When these children in the program can feel safe in a home that is what warms my heart and soul.  I pray daily that I can someday do even more!
