ANA EIGLER

Court Appointed Advocate since
: 2004

How did you decide to become a Child Advocate volunteer? I had always admired Child Advocates, but never had the time to be a court appointed advocate. Now that I have a little bit more time, I decided to become one.

Your most memorable experience as a court appointed advocate ... The second time that I went to visit the kids in my case, they received me with big hugs and smiles.

What is your life like outside of volunteering with Child Advocates? I am married and have two grown-up daughters. I am self-employed doing consulting, training, and facilitation. I also take drawing/painting classes, and other classes that appeal to me. I volunteered with other organizations. I exercise frequently.

What inspires you to continue volunteering? The fact that I know that there is a great need for CAI volunteers to work on behalf of neglected or abused kids that are in foster care. I also feel that I am making a difference.

Tips you’d give to people who are interested in volunteering for Child Advocates, but haven’t yet made the commitment. It's worth it. You can start the training and if you miss part of it, you can finish later on. The more you get into it, the easier it becomes.
