SHIRLEY DIMMIG

Member since: I've been a member of Friends since 1993, the same year I became a Court Appointed Advocate and worked on cases for six years, after which I became more involved with Friends. 

What is your role with the Friends? I have worked on Committees for the Angels of Hope Luncheon and Fashion Show and the Annual Gala (during the years Child Advocates put on both every year!), and volunteered for the Children's Festival, Cameron Childspree, Pull for Kids and the Holiday Party.

What's life like outside of Child Advocates? I'm presently enjoying my three wonderful grandchildren, tennis, golf and traveling, but I hope to continue my gratifying experience with Friends. 

Tell us something unique about yourself that others may not know: I was born in London, went to school there and endured the London Blitz in WWII.  Won a Gold Medal for swimming 200 in Houston's Senior Olympics a few years ago.

How I became involved with Child Advocates: I became involved with Friends through a tennis friend, and I have involved others the same way.  That's how it works.

The highlight of my experience as member of the Friends: Not only has it been a rewarding experience, but I have met many wonderful people.
